We had a 5:45 wake up and a 6:30 hike at Chinese hat where I was licked by a curious baby sea lion. Came back onboard to a wonderful breakfast. We had an hour to change into our swim gear and slip into our wet suits and off we went again!

M: CHINESE HAT ISLET

This small islet is located near the southeast coast of Santiago Island. Its name comes from the distinct shape of the islet's summit. This small islet is a great location to view many geological formations such as lava tubes and lava flows.

The waters of Chinese Hat are protected by nearby Santiago island, providing calmness for snorkelers. The waters here are relatively cool – which makes for an ideal feeding ground for Galapagos marine species. The coral reef attracts colorful fish and reef sharks. We were able to see a more shallow and protected reef and Nonie was able to capture the very best penguin video in the history of all penguin videos!!

Penguin Alert!!! Best Penguin video ever thanks to my friend Nonie!!!
