Nieuw Amsterdam Ball & The Spa-2026

The activities staff whipped up a Nieuw Amsterdam Ball for us on the last formal night. I say “whipped up” because this event didn’t show up in the planner until the day prior. The Rolling Stones sets were all reworked with different times (refer to the legendary daily blog of exact times) and events like the chocolate extravaganza were added. I put on a sparkle top and heels- it’s the best I could do. My days of really dressing up are in the rear view mirror.
The ball was split between RS and the ocean bar. The ocean bar had the dam band playing and, the RS band was in the RS lounge with Dj Lala playing through their breaks. Shocker- I elected to spend my night in Rolling Stones. I do prefer when the entire party can take place in a single venue so I don’t have to think, but it is what it is on HAL.
The ball kicked off with our world stage dancers doing a fancy waltz and the Captain opened up the dance floor with his lovely wife. Then the remaining officers joined in. I danced with the Chief Environmental Engineer who was a perfect gentleman and played along with my nonsense.

On a side note, thanks to my friend Mary who suggested I pre- purchase a package of 3 blowout/styles. Kira from the spa was great and had my hair looking lovely if I do say so myself. I visited the spa several times this trip. A pedicure with Diva who did an extremely professional job, and a huge shout out to my African Goddess Zamo who brought with her the power of the kingdom for my massages.. All in all, 7 treatments total and all but my very first massage on embarkation day were excellent. Happy to
