If you’ve sailed on Holland America, you know that the orange party is one party onboard where you can count on HAL to bring it- and that they did!

I want to stress that Holland America has really upped their game when it comes to bringing high energy fun. Whomever is the putting together the activities is putting more effort in than I have seen before. Bringing in the world stage cast to sing and dance at the evening parties is a nice touch, and holding them at the lido is my preferred venue.

Last night’s schedule was a bit odd. The Rolling Stones band plays only three 45 minute sets each night with a 15 minute break between sets (always ending at 10:45 pm). The schedule has been consistently 8, 9, and 10pm. But yesterday they played at 6, 7, and 10 to accommodate for the orange party which was roughly 8:45-10 pm

Unlike the Konnjngsdam, the Orange party was hosted by a DJ and not a live band (I’m guessing deck space maybe a. Issue). I normally always prefer a live band, but in this case the DJ worked because he played dance songs and reacted to what the crowd was participating in.

At 8:45 PM the party officially kicked off with 15 minutes of line dancing. It was regular line dancing, not the more difficult kind of line dancing they’ve been doing in the mornings. You know -electric slide, Cupid shuffle, and I even got to get my wobble on.

After line dancing the world stage singers and dancers came on to preform a couple songs and then the DJ turned it over to dance music until 10:00 pm and I would say that the floor was packed until 9:30 or so with lots of smiling faces and people letting their hair down. One thing about 35 night cruises is that there are many friendships formed along the way. Dancing last night of a little bit like a wedding reception where I knew everyone.

At 10:00 the party moved down to Rolling Stones- well a couple dozen of us did anyway. We got super silly with the band - who somehow ended up laying on the stage just before we broke into a conga line. It really was great seeing the band let loose and have some fun with the crowd. I like these guys very much and they have really jelled as the cruise progressed (they were brand new at embarkation). The acoustics on non-pinnacle ships Rolling Stones lounge is much better than the acoustics on Pinnacle ships so I’ve enjoyed closing Rolling Stones many nights this voyage.

All in all it was another great orange party onboard Holland American!
