Las Gretias is a beautu swimming hole created by fissures from an ancient lava flow. To get there from downtown Puerta Ayoya you must take a water taxi ($1) across the bay.
Once across the bay the walk to the national park ranger station is about 10 minutes. You will pass Finch Bay hotel and this lovely beach. Feel free to stop for a swim here…

The cost for a guide is $10pp (and you must have a guide) . The tours go out on the 30s so you pay and wait your turn to walk to Las Grietas in the restaurant area. Our guide spent some time talking about the landscape and various mangroves on the way.. The hike was easy, but very uneven. I do recommend a good solid hiking shoe.

The swimming pools were glorious! A tad bit cool at entry, but we quickly acclimated. The water is deep, so grab a life vest if you are uncomfortable. You can swim down to the end and climb some rocks to a second pool. You do only get 45 minutes in the water though, I wish we had a bit more time.
Reverse the process on the way out. There is a restaurant at the ranger station for drinks and some chow if interested. There are also bathrooms. Make sure to pass finch bay hotel on your way to the water taxi and before you know it you will be back in Puerta Ayoya proper where the sea lions cohabitate with people
